About
Here’s a condensed version under 300 words:
As a child in Roselle, Illinois, I was captivated by Roy Rogers—not for his rope tricks, but for his guitar playing. At age 8, I visited the local music store and was mesmerized by the sound of a guitar in the window. Mr. Gillman, the owner, eventually arranged lessons for me, sparking my lifelong musical journey.
By 11, inspired by the British Invasion, I formed my first band, The Corals. With Carl on drums, Frank and Jeff on vocals and rhythm, and me on lead guitar, we quickly became a local favorite. Our persistence led to a spot at the 1966 World Teenage Show in Chicago, sharing the stage with big names like Tommy James and Martha and the Vandellas. Our single, Love You Baby/Red Eye Glasses, became a rare collector's item.
In high school, a move to California shifted my focus to acoustic folk/rock. Teaming up with Dale Baetge, we played harmonies across the Bay Area and Seattle. My college years were spent honing my craft through jam sessions and launching The Songwriter’s Stage in San Francisco, showcasing nearly 50 songwriters.
In 1985, I released Those People, earning praise from legends like Tom Paxton and Bob Gibson. A Kerrville Folk Festival selection and strong reviews affirmed my path.
Now retired, I’m active in songwriting workshops like Summersongs, working on new projects and revisiting unfinished songs. Music has always been my constant, evolving passion.
