This class will go over the basics of recording, and improve your
knowledge and understanding of your home studio. I will show you
how to get the most out of your equipment. Over 4 classes we will
go over microphones, tracking, mixing, and mastering. Each class
will be 2 hours and give the students practical hands on experience.
With quality entry recording equipment, you can achieve professional
sounding recordings.
Class 1(2/21/12): Basics of recordings
-Go over the basics terms of recording and studio equipment.
Class 2(2/28/12): Tracking
-Basic understanding of microphones, sound proofing, and
microphone techniques.
Class 3(3/6/12): Mixing/Mastering
-Going over the basics of mixing and mastering to help your
recordings sound professional.
Class 4(3/13/12): Session
-We will be working with musicians to get hands on experience of
everything covered in the class.
The teacher of the Basics of Recording Class,Ryan Kojan, is a producer, engineer, and musician. Not only does Ryan do recording, he also works on
the business end too, and helps his clients with artist development. His skills and knowledge of
music and recording have earned him a place not only with clients but also sought after in the
music industry. Currently playing the bands, Slow Start and Forget One Thing, he also bring his
talents of guitarist and song writer. Getting his start in Los Angeles, working with such artists as;
Mel B of the Spice Girls, Flo Rida, Jimmy Buffet, Godsmack. He learned his craft from notable
engineers Andy Johns(Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin) and Kent Hertz(Steve Miller, Michale
Jackson).
Ryan received formal training as well at The Conservatory of Recording Arts and Sciences in
Audio Production. He is a well trained user of Pro Tools and is Avid Certified.
